Finalists for the awards, dubbed the Rosies, were announced Tuesday afternoon. The award show will be held May 12 at the Hyatt Regency in Calgary.
Shaun Johnston is up for best performance by an Alberta actor for playing Jack Bartlett in Heartland. Interestingly, this pits him against himself not once but twice. The Edmonton actor is also nominated in that category for his roles in Wynonna Earp and In Plainview. Other Alberta actors nominated include two-time Canadian Screen Award winner Andrew Phung for Kim’s Convenience, Joseph Perry for the indie thriller Everfall and Patrick Creery for the Parent Council.
There are 27 class awards for productions that were produced or co-produced by an Alberta production company and 33 craft categories for craftspeople who were a resident of Alberta for the 2017 calendar year.
