VANCOUVER, BC (April 15, 2015) – Olympus, an epic 13-part mythological drama series, makes its UK broadcast debut on Spike TV tonight, at 10:00 pm.
The series, shot in Vancouver, takes viewers into the action-packed ancient world of humans, Gods and monsters, featuring characters from mythology in a way never before imagined.
Olympus tells the story of Hero (Tom York, Tyrant), a young man, on a mythical quest to solve the riddle of the Gods, unlock the doors to Olympus and become an immortal. Hero’s epic journey leads him through the darkest realms of Ancient Greece accompanied by the beautiful, but twisted Oracle of Gaia, the powerful sorceress Medea and genius inventor Daedalus. Hero battles trickster gods, vicious monsters, seductive nymphs, kings and despots, as he transforms from fresh-faced and naïve to calculating, ruthless, and cold-hearted – a match for the Gods themselves.
The series also stars Sonya Cassidy (The Paradise, Vera) as Oracle, Sonita Henry (Star Trek, The Fifth Element) as Medea, Graham Shiels (Guardians of the Galaxy, True Blood) as King Aegeus, and Matt Frewer (Orphan Black, The Knick) as Daedalus.
Created by Nick Willing (Tinman, Alice, Neverland), Olympus is a Canada-UK co-production produced by Vancouver’s Reunion Pictures (a Thunderbird company) and London’s Olympus TV and distributed by Great Point Media. Executive Producers are Robert Halmi Jr. and Jim Reeve for Great Point Media and Matthew O’Connor for Reunion Pictures.
Olympus will be one of Spike TV’s debut series. The channel, which was launched by Viacom today in the UK, also features Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy and The Walking Dead on its roster. Olympus is currently airing in North America; on SyFy in the US and on Super Channel in Canada.
