Outside of costume design, Whit Stillman’s period comedy Love & Friendship has not been considered to be among Academy Awards hopefuls, but it won a couple of the London Critics’ Circle Film Awards on Sunday. But the final winner of the night was La La Land, which took home the top award for film of the year.

In the nominations, Love & Friendship and Moonlight, which also won two honors on Sunday, had tied with seven each, closely followed by Maren Ade’s German comedy Toni Erdmann with six. La La Land, Manchester by the Sea, which also earned two awards, and American Honey each earned five nominations.

The winners were be voted on by the 140 members of the film section of the Critics’ Circle, the U.K.’s leading and longest-standing film critics group. The ceremony took place Sunday evening at London’s May Fair Hotel.

Ken Loach’s I, Daniel Blake was honored as the best British/Irish film of the year.

The top acting honors went to Casey Affleck for Manchester by the Sea and Isabelle Huppert won for Things to Come. Kate Beckinsale (Love & Friendship) and Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge) were named the best British/Irish actress and actor of the year. Huppert also got the Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film.

Early in the night, Kenneth Lonergan won the best screenwriter honor for Manchester by the Sea, while Naomie Harris got the best supporting actress award, and Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) and Tom Bennett (Love & Friendship) tied in the best supporting actor race.
