Swiss actress Carla Juri has been cast in the untitled sequel to Blade Runner.

Juri joins Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks and Dave Bautista. Denis Villeneuve (“Sicario”) is directing the film, which starts shooting in July.

Alcon Entertainment’s film will be released by Warner Bros. in North America, while Sony Pictures Releasing International distributes it overseas.

The sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original, with Ford reprising his role as Rick Deckard. Ridley Scott directed the original, which was set in 2019 Los Angeles, with Deckard pursuing four replicants who had escaped from an off-world colony.

The sequel is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”

Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble of Thunderbird Films will serve as executive producers. Scott will also executive produce along with Bill Carraro.

Juri made her professional debut in Cihan Inan’s “180º” for which she won the Swiss Film Prize for best supporting actress. She starred in David Wnendt’s German film Wetlands, which screened at Sundance in 2014. Wnendt returned to Sundance this year with the comedic drama Morris From America, starring Craig Robinson. It premieres this fall via A24.

Juri is repped by Anonymous Content, UTA and Curtis Brown.
