Film is being distributed by Thunderbird Releasing in the UK and Ireland
VANCOUVER / March 19, 2019: Thunderbird Entertainment Group Inc. (TSXV:TBRD) (“Thunderbird” or the “Company”), a global multiplatform entertainment company, is pleased to announce that Chanya Button’s hotly-anticipated Vita & Virginiahas been selected as the opening night film for the BFI Flare: London LGBTQ+ Film Festival, following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. The film is being distributed in the UK and Ireland by the Company’s releasing division, Thunderbird Releasing.
When Vita & Virginiaopens the festival on March 21, 2019, it will also mark the film’s official UK premiere. Members of the cast and crew are expected to attend in support of the film. Its official UK theatrical release will then follow on July 12, 2019.
“It’s an honour to be opening BFI Flare with Vita & Virginia,” says Edward Fletcher, Managing Director, Thunderbird Releasing. “Director Chanya Button is a huge talent and it’s gratifying to see this film, which Thunderbird has backed since script development, premiere in this prestigious slot.”
Starring Elizabeth Debicki and Gemma Arterton, the drama details the intimate relationship between author Virginia Woolf (Debicki) and socialite, Vita Sackville-West (Arterton), which was to become the inspiration for Woolf’s Modernist novel, a bold experiment in art and androgyny- Orlando: A Biography.
