Broadway Licensing has just announced the Junior Varsity Collection, which adapts some of their most popular titles into versions specifically created for young performers. Developed by leading educational experts and approved by school boards around the country, each show has been crafted to empower, engage and excite students while developing a life-long passion for theatre.

“Young people have the awesome responsibility of shaping the future, fostering change through imagination and creativity,” Broadway Licensing President Sean Cercone says, “As passionate advocates for arts education, we are proud to offer our Junior Varsity Collection. JV not only focuses on the art of the show, but also celebrates and inspires the ‘Team’ putting it together.”

The first three titles in the collection are Broadway Licensing favorites: Emma, Polkadots and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Beat Bugs: The Musical, based on the hit Netflix animated series and featuring the music of The Beatles will be available this fall.

Advancing the current industry standard, all performance materials are delivered digitally at the time of purchase, saving directors time and money. Additionally, every package includes not only the performance materials but also digital logo files, poster templates, video licenses and tailor-made social media graphics to help promote the production.

The authors have been an integral part of creating the new versions. Douglas Lyons, creator of Polkadots, said “Polkadots was written to empower and celebrate our differences. This new JV version will give young actors ownership of a story that was designed for them.” The author of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Jahnna Beecham, added “Malcolm and I are very excited that The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical is being included in the new JV collection. JV versions are easier to sing, easier to rehearse, and easier to produce, which is a win for everyone!”
