Thunderbird Releasing has added two new titles to its upcoming slate, with the acquisition of Benedict Andrews’ Una and Martin Koolhoven‘s Brimstone.
Based on David Harrower‘s multi-award winning play ‘Blackbird’, Una stars Rooney Mara, Ben Mendelsohn and Riz Ahmed, and focuses on the fraught and emotionally devastating ramifications following a young woman’s attempt to track down a man from her past, unearthing longburied secrets.
Martin Koolhoven’s western thriller Brimstone was produced in association with New Sparta Films, and premiered at the 2016 Venice
Film Festival. The revenge thriller stars Dakota Fanning as a frontier woman on the run from a vengeful preacher (Guy Pearce) in the harsh terrain of the old American West.
The deals were negotiated by Edward Fletcher, Managing Director of Thunderbird Releasing, and Eve Schoukroun at WestEnd Films (Una)
and Tim Haslam at Embankment (Brimstone).
Fletcher commented: “We’re thrilled to add to our early Autumn slate two intelligent and entertaining female driven titles in BRIMSTONE and UNA. We’ve had great early exhibitor interest, and with the support of all the talent involved, look forward to delivering engaging UK campaigns.” Both titles are scheduled for a September release in the UK.
