Vancouver-based Thunderbird Entertainment announced on October 19 that it has signed an agreement with Skybound North.

Skybound North is the newly opened Vancouver-based division of Los Angeles’ Skybound Entertaiment. The office, which was launched this month and is headed by former Lucasfilm executive Catherine Winder, will focus on Canadian writing and production. The company was co-founded by chairman Robert Kirkman, who co-created The Walking Dead, and CEO David Alpert in 2010.

The partnership gives Thunderbird an exclusive first look at all animated and non-animated TV projects by Skybound North.

One of the first projects under the new agreement will be the docu-series Heroes and Villains: The History of Comics, which is slated to premiere in 2017.

The six-part series will take a look at events, stories, and people who have had a significant impact in comic books.

Projects by Thunderbird Entertainment, which has offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles, and London, include the CBC sitcom Kim’s Convenience, the animated feature Long Way North, and the forthcoming Blade Runner 2049.
