Soda Pictures (A Thunderbird Company) is pleased to be releasing Jeremy Sims’ award winning Australian drama Last Cab to Darwin, starring Michael Caton (The Castle) & Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook), in Canada on July 8.
Based on the successful stage play by Reg Cribb, Last Cab to Darwin tells the story of 70-year-old taxi driver Rex (Caton), who is diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer. Rex leaves his loved ones behind, and sets out on a 3,000-mile journey to Darwin in a bid to die on his own terms. Along the way he discovers that before you end your life you’ve got to live it, and to live it you’ve got to learn to share it.
Last Cab to Darwin has won two Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards, including Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay. It was the Official Selection Closing Film at the 2016 Palm Springs Film Festival, and premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. Film release details below.
