Highway Thru Hell

Factual

Tuesday’s on Discovery: 7PST/10EST

The stakes are high – lives, the economy and thousands of jobs depend on the highways staying open.

Synopsis

When trucks crash and twisted metal blocks the highway, Jamie Davis Heavy Rescue is the last line of defense on some of the most inhospitable trucking routes in North America. The stakes are high – lives, the economy and thousands of jobs depend on the highways staying open.

The Coquihalla and nearby highways through British’s Columbia mountain passes have some of the most difficult – and fast changing – road conditions anywhere. Ten years ago, Highway 881 was a gravel road through frigid northern Alberta. Today it’s one of two highways pushing through remote forest to the bounty of the oil and gas fields – a lifeline for the booming industry that keeps the energy flowing.

Equipped with a world-class fleet of heavy rescue tow trucks and support vehicles, Jamie Davis and his crew must be ready to respond within minutes, at any hour, in any conditions when police and highway crews call him for help.

This isn’t a job for the faint of heart. On any given day crew will face the challenge of clearing complex wrecks, the stress of being on call 24/7, the pressure to get traffic moving, brutal weather, fierce competition and the trauma of witnessing tragedy firsthand.

Highway Thru Hell is ultimately a series about man versus Mother Nature and the toughest men in the towing business being pushed to their breaking point.
