World chess champion Arkady Balagan (Shawn Doyle) solves crimes that mystify others.
Tormented by the brazen murder of his fiancée Rosemary and restricted to the confines of his luxury hotel, the agoraphobic genius unravels mysteries with the help of an unlikely ensemble of hotel employees and chess fanatics. This improvised band of sleuths includes Hugo (Patrick Gallagher), the hotel head of security, Sam (Torrance Coombs), a grad student, chess nerd and HUGE Arkady Balagan fan and Danni (Katherine Isabelle) the hotel bartender.
