Brian Paes-Braga – Chair & Director

Brian Paes-Braga is Chairman of Thunderbird Entertainment and sits on the board of DeepGreen Metals Inc. He is also Principal, Head of Merchant Banking at SAF Group, a leading structured credit and merchant banking group which builds, invests, finances and advises high growth companies as well as provides flexible and long-term capital solutions to public and private corporations while providing stable returns for investors through its structured credit arm. Brian was Founder and CEO of Lithium X Energy Corp., a lithium resource company, which raised approximately $53 million and, within 2.5 years, was sold to an international company for $265 million in March 2018. Brian is an Advisory Council member of the International Crisis Group and is proud to support several charities and research groups through his private family foundation, Quiet Cove Foundation, which seeks to support innovative solutions to large scale social issues. Brian is currently attending the Owners, Presidents and Management (OPM) program at Harvard Business School.


Frank GiustraLead Director

Mr. Giustra’s entrepreneurial success expands to both his established works within the natural resource industry and film industry.  Mr. Giustra is President and Chief Executive Officer of Fiore Financial Corporation and is the founder of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., one of the world’s largest independent film companies.  Previously, Mr. Giustra served as President, Chairman and Executive Officer at Yorkton Securities Inc. and as Chairman of Endeavour Financial Corporation.   Mr. Giustra is a noted philanthropist who sits on numerous boards as well as launching the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership.


Tim GambleVice Chair and Director

Mr. Gamble is a founding partner of Thunderbird and as former CEO, was instrumental in the acquisitions of both Great Pacific Media and Atomic Cartoons. Tim played a key role in IP acquisition including Blade Runner 2049 and The Beatles inspired animation series Beat Bugs where he served as Executive Producer. Mr. Gamble focuses on corporate finance and strategic alliances, as well as providing executive production services for feature films and television series.


Jennifer Twiner McCarronChief Executive Officer and Director

Ms. Twiner McCarron joined Atomic Cartoons, Thunderbird’s kid division, as head of production in 2011, where she helped grow the company from 25 artists to more than 450. In 2016, Twiner McCarron was promoted to the role of President and CEO of Atomic. Under her leadership, Atomic shifted from being primarily a service hub, to become a full-fledged, independent content creator, producing content such as Beat Bugs and The Last Kids on Earth for Netflix, and optioning the rights to New York Times best selling books, such as Savannah Guthrie’s Princesses Wear Pants. In June 2018, Twiner McCarron was appointed CEO of Thunderbird Entertainment, a role which oversees all of the Company’s animated, factual and scripted divisions.


Mark MillerPresident and Director

Mr. Miller is a founding partner and the Chief Executive Officer of Great Pacific Media Inc., the factual arm of Thunderbird. Mr. Miller is an award-winning writer, producer and music composer and has formed several companies that have created hundreds of hours of programming.   Mr. Miller is the creator of programs including Highway Thru Hell, Heavy Rescue: 401 and Xtremely Wild.


Francesco AquiliniDirector

Mr. Aquilini is the Managing Director of the Aquilini Group, which owns a diversified national real estate portfolio, the Vancouver Canucks, and significant agricultural holdings.   Mr. Aquilini’s expertise lies in finding creative approaches for structuring and financing new business opportunities, while establishing talented management teams.  Mr. Aquilini is also known for his philanthropic work, with organizations such as the Boys Club Network and the BC Children’s Hospital.   Mr. Aquilini is a graduate of Simon Fraser University graduate and earned an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Frank Holmes

Mr. Holmes is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of U.S. Global Investors Inc. and serves as its Portfolio Manager.   Mr. Holmes is also President and Secretary at F.E. Holmes Organization Inc. and President and a director of USACI.  Additionally, Mr. Holmes previously served as the Chairman of Fortress IT Corp. and as Chairman of Endeavour Financial Corporation.  Mr. Holmes is engaged in several international philanthropies including President’s Circle, the International Crisis Group and the William J. Clinton Foundation.  Mr. Holmes is a regular commentator on CNBC, Bloomberg and Fox Business.  Mr. Holmes will serve as Chair of the Audit Committee.


Paul SparkesDirector

Mr. Sparkes is an accomplished business executive with more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors. For the past decade Mr. Sparkes has been a leader in the broadcast and new media industry as CTVglobemedia’s Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs. Mr. Sparkes has also held senior positions in public service, including with the Government of Canada as Director of Operations to Prime Minister, Jean Chretien, and as a senior aide to two Premiers; Clyde Wells and Brian Tobin.  Mr. Sparkes co-founded Difference Capital Financial Inc. and currently serves on a number of private and public boards.  Mr. Sparkes will serve on the Audit Committee.


Azim JamalDirector

Dr. Jamal is the Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Reach Seniors Housing Management, which he co-founded in 2014. He has extensive experience in managing and overseeing investments in a variety of industries, including real estate, hospitality, healthcare, and technology. Dr. Jamal is also responsible for driving the creative direction and strategy for Pacific Reach’s Hospitality and Entertainment Division. Prior to founding Pacific Reach, he co-founded and managed Retirement Concepts, which is one of Canada’s largest privately held seniors housing companies. Dr. Jamal is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, a recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and winner of the Business in Vancouver Top 40 Under 40 Outstanding Achievement Award. He is a trained family physician and graduated as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) from the University of British Columbia.
