Kim’s Convenience actors Andrew Phung and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee among local nominees for Canadian Screen Awards

Kim’s Convenience actors Andrew Phung and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Peter Oldring of CBC’s radio/web series This is That are among the Calgarians or former Calgarians who earned Canadian Screen Award nominations.

Calgarian Andrew Phung received a nomination for best supporting or guest actor in a series for his role in Kim’s Convenience. Co-star Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, who grew up in Calgary, is nominated for best lead actor in a comedy. Both actors won in their respective categories in 2017.

Kim’s Convenience, which is shot in Toronto, had a total of 12 nominations, as did the crime drama Cardinal.

On the film side, Ava, Never Steady, Never Still and Hochelaga, Land of Souls lead with eight nominations each.

The awards gala will be broadcast on CBC-TV on March 11 from the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto.
