Paula Patton is headed to the small screen.

The Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocolactress has signed on to star in the ABC drama Somewhere Between, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The series centers on superstar news producer and fiercely loving mom Laura Price (Patton). Laura Price isn’t crazy: She knows her daughter Serena is going to be murdered. She doesn’t know who the murderer is or why she’ll be killed, but she knows exactly when it will happen, where and how. Despite this, all her attempts to keep her daughter safe fail, and Serena’s fixed, unmovable, terrifying fate keeps her directly in the path of her killer.

Somewhere Between is based on a Korean format and received a 10-episode pickup in December. The drama, which will shoot in Vancouver, is set to debut this summer.

Stephen Tolkin (Legend of the Seeker, Brothers & Sisters) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Ivan Fecan and Joseph Broido. Thunderbird Entertainment will produce in association with ITV Studios America, with ITV Studios Global Entertainment handling international distribution.

Somewhere Between marks the first series-regular role for Patton, whose other film credits include Precious, 2 Guns and, most recently, Warcraft: The Beginning. Her TV credits include a guest role on Law & Order: SVU and an arc on VH1’s Single Ladies.

The project brings Patton back to ABC, where she starred in the network’s 2015 drug cartel drama pilot Runner. She is repped by CAA, Primary Wave and Sloane Offer.
