Blade Runner 2049 producer Thunderbird Entertainment has teamed up with David Salzman (Dallas) to develop a TV series based on the Decker-Lazarus series of mystery novels.

The initial development process will focus on The Ritual Bath, the first book in the Decker-Lazarus series written by Faye Kellerman and the first novel optioned by Thunderbird.

The story centres on a hard-nosed LAPD detective and widowed mother of two who witnesses a brutal crime and becomes embroiled in solving it.

Salzman, whose credits include Dallas and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air plus event specials like the Academy Awards, is onboard as an executive producer.

Thunderbird Entertainment
has offices in LA, Toronto and London and is behind Canadian comedy Kim’s Convenience and the animated Netflix original series Beat Bugs.

It is also producing the forthcoming Blade Runner sequel Blade Runner 2049, starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.
