Thunderbird Group has named Dennis Miller to its board of directors, as well as appointing Miller as a strategic advisor to the Vancouver-based company.
In his advisory role, Miller’s remit will include acquisitions, corporate finance and developing business partnerships and opportunities.
The appointment reunites Miller with Thunderbird director Frank Giustra, with whom he worked with previously at Lionsgate in the late ’90s when the company launched its TV division. Miller has also served as EVP of Sony Pictures Entertainment (1998-2000) and Turner Network Television (1991 t0 1995), as well as Lionsgate (1995-1998).
After departing Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2000, Miller – who began his career as an entertainment and tax lawyer – went on to serve as managing director of Constellation Ventures and partner at Spark Capital LLC.
On the company’s board, Miller joins Giustra, Francesco Aquilini, Paul Sparkes, Stephen Cheikes, Lisa Richardson, Frank Holmes, Mark Miller and Tom Astle. Ivan Fecan serves as the executive chair of the company.
