Thunderbird’s Soda Pictures Picks Up WestEnd Films’ The Face of an Angel

General

September 7th, 2014 – Soda Pictures has acquired Michael Winterbottom’s The Face of an Angel for the UK/Ireland and Canada.

This acquisition follows Soda’s TIFF announcement that they have merged with the Canadian production company Thunderbird in order to expand their business in the UK and build a distribution outfit in Canada, specializing in high-end British films.

The deal was negotiated by Eve Gabereau of Soda Pictures and Eve Schoukroun and Fabien Westerhoff of WestEnd Films.

Gabereau says “The Face of an Angel is such a great film with poignancy in its treatment of the search for truth within the notorious Amanda Knox case. It is a perfect one for our new venture in that we were able to pick it up at its World Premiere and across territories. Also, to be working with Michael Winterbottom and Melissa Parmenter again is fantastic.”

Inspired by the killing of British student Meredith Kercher in Italy in 2007, The Face of an Angel looks beyond the salacious headlines to explore both the media and the public’s obsession with violent stories, whether fictional or real.

Written by Paul Viragh, and inspired by the novel Angel Face by Barbie Latza Nadeau, the film stars Daniel Brühl, Kate Beckinsale and Cara Delevingne.
