May 1, 2009 – The BBC children’s channel CBeebies has picked up the new pre-school Canadian CGI animation series Zigby.

Produced by Thunderbird Films for Treehouse in Canada, Zigby is a co-production with Avrill Stark Entertainment Pty Ltd, Zebra (I) Productions Inc. and Big Animation Pte Ltd, in association with Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

The 3D animated series (52 x 11 mins), targeting three to five year olds, continues to garnish rave reviews and ratings success. Zigby recently premiered on Treehouse and on Radio Canada in Quebec and will be premiering in upwards of 20 territories worldwide in the next two months, including France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Australia.

The series was created by children’s author Brian Paterson and based on the Harper Collins Children’s Books wildly popular character Zigby, The Zebra Who Trots Into Trouble.

Set on a lush jungle island, Zigby follows the wild adventures of three young friends — Zigby the Zebra, McMeer the Meerkat and Bertie the Guinea Fowl. Zigby has a lively imagination and always comes up with an offbeat idea that he just has to follow through. His enthusiasm rubs off on his two best friends and they always end up joining Zigby’s escapades which inevitably land them in some kind of trouble.
